Writing a brief
Use the six-step wizard to write a brief creators can follow, and get it ready to publish.
Updated November 4, 2026
A brief tells creators what to make, what is required, and what they will be paid. Clear briefs get better applicants and fewer revisions.
The six steps
- Product. Pick an existing project to prefill from its product information, or enter the product by hand: name, category, price, link and images. Choose target markets and the brief’s languages.
- Viral references. Add TikTok links of videos you want creators to learn from, with a short summary of what works. You can also select research results from your project as context for the AI.
- AI draft. Add any instructions, then generate. The AI writes the title, summary, selling points, must-have shots, dos and don’ts. Edit any field, or use Improve on a single field.
- Requirements and terms. Set deliverables, collaboration type, fee, slots, budget, usage rights, disclosure, deadlines, creator requirements and revision rounds.
- Languages and preview. Generate translations for each market and preview every version the way a creator will see it.
- Publish. Choose visibility, check the list of missing items, and publish.
Every AI action shows its credit estimate first. Next saves the brief before moving on.
Collaboration types
- Gifted: creators receive the product, no fee. No money passes through the platform.
- Fixed fee: one fee per creator, held in escrow when you hire.
- Fixed fee + commission: the fixed fee is held in escrow; the affiliate commission is paid through TikTok Shop, outside the platform.
- Pay per approved video: the fee is paid for each approved and verified video.
Usage rights
Choose organic only, Spark Ads authorization, or paid-ads whitelisting. Anything other than organic needs a number of days.
What is checked before publishing
The brief cannot be published until:
- Title, product name, target markets, languages, deliverables, selling points and both deadlines are filled in.
- Both deadlines are in the future, and the delivery deadline is not before the application deadline.
- Paid collaborations have a fee, and the budget covers the fee times the number of slots.
- Fixed fee + commission has a commission percentage.
- The follower maximum is not lower than the minimum.
Tips
- Keep selling points to three or four. Creators will pick one to lead with.
- Make must-have shots concrete: “fold the kettle in one hand”, not “show the product”.
- Put things you cannot accept in Don’ts, such as medical claims or competitor names. The creator’s compliance check flags them.
- Leave disclosure required on. Most markets require clear ad labels for paid content.
After publishing
You can pause a brief to stop new applications and resume it later, or close it. Closing cannot be undone: pending applications are rejected, pending invitations are cancelled, and creators are notified. Only drafts can be deleted.
